Tobacco “ Tabaku “ Teachings Retreat
April 25-26, 2020 , outdoors at Blossom Dell Sanctuary, at the site of our community Tobacco gardens.
Taita Roman “Red Hawk” Guaraguaorix and (Behike) Nelson Kauamarix will share the history of Tabaku according to the Taino people and other Indigenous people around the world and guide the group on a tabaku journey.
About Tobacco:
Tobacco is a spirit plant used by most native peoples from North and South America and the Caribbean It helps provide clarity and it is believed to be a plant that was left by our ancestors so that we could use the plant kingdom to make a two way call to spirit. We use it for protection, clarity or resolution with something. Redhawk and Kauamarix will introduce different forms of tobacco and how it is used medicinally and will cover different ways tobacco is used by Native peoples in prayer, offerings, and healing.
Participants are encouraged to partake in prayer with Tobacco Medicine. We will be working with grown tabaku in the gardens at Blossom Dell Sanctuary and other countries as well . You will learn different ways to use Tabaku as a medicine and also to roll a cigars which you take home along with other gifts and information handouts and a tobacco bundle will be given at the end of the Retreat .
Working with the Tobacco plant:
On the physical level, Tobacco cleans the blood, intestines, stomach and sinuses. It cleans mucus, toxins and parasites.
On the emotional level, Tobacco supports clearing held emotions, behavioural patterns, addiction and beliefs that no longer serve us.
On the energetic level, Tobacco helps to open energetic blockages, so that our energy may flow freely in the body.
If you are partaking in Tobacco ceremonies:
Please abstain from alcohol, meat, processed foods, stimulants, marijuana and any sexual activity for at least 3 days before. It is strongly recommended not to mix Tobacco with alcohol, or any other drugs and medications.
Please bring a 2L bottle of water, a small blanket and a long sleeved shirt.
Seek counseling from the Retreat leaders if you are dealing any heart condition, low or high blood pressure, asthma and if you have been recently operated or are pregnant.
